Erika J. Decker, 71, of Milan, NY, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, MA.
She was a Cook for many years at Linwood Spiritual Retreat in Rhinebeck, as well as a Chef at SUNY New Paltz.
Erika was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Rock City, NY.
Born on April 29th, 1940 in Germany she was the daughter of the late George Wolfrum and Christiana Becher Wolfrum.
Erika married Kenneth Decker, of Milan, on September 11th, 1966 at First Lutheran Church in Poughkeepsie.
Erika, aka Oma, was a woman entirely devoted to her husband and family. In addition to her loving husband Erika is survived by her children: Craig Decker and his wife Nicole of Milan, NY, Jennifer Delage and her husband Stephen of Red Hook, NY, and Dwane Decker and his wife Cecilia Maple of Philmont. She helped raise four adoring grandchildren; Colin and Kayla Decker and Tanner and Khali Delage. She is also survived by a sister; Margot Jonietz of Clintondale and a brother; Adolf Wolfrum of New Paltz, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She loved to cook and bake, and was proud of her German birth and Lutheran faith. Her ideal day included the warm sun on her face, tending the garden, canning, a moment on her porch swing, and a long soak in a warm bath. She will be loved and missed forever.
Erika was blessed to have a devoted husband of 45 years who never left her side. His commitment, dedication and unwavering love was clear to all that encountered them.
She is predeceased by her brother, Wilhelm Wolfrum.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday April 13, 2012 at Memorial Lutheran Church, 1232 Route 308, Rhinebeck, NY. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Pine Plains, NY.
Calling hours will be held at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Thursday April 12th from 5-8 PM.
