James G. Woolsey, 87, a longtime resident of Rhinebeck, passed away on Wednesday, March 14th, 2012 at his home.
For many years, James worked for IBM in Poughkeepsie, and he retired on January 31, 1985.
He was a member of the IBM 1/4 Century Club and a longtime former member of the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club.
James was an avid reader and enjoyed immersing himself in investments and the stock market.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Born on March 12, 1925, in Poughkeepsie, NY, he was the son of the late Augustus and Edna (Flanagan) Woolsey. He received his bachelor’s degree in Printing and Publication from RIT.
James married Patricia Kihlmire on May 6, 1949 in St. Peter’s Church in Poughkeepsie, and she survives at home in Rhinebeck.
In addition to his loving wife of 62 years, he is survived by his children; Patricia Maier and her husband William of Manhattan, Judy Bocchino and her husband Frank of Hyde Park, Brian Woolsey and his wife Ann of Hyde Park, Linda Pulver and her husband Russell of Red Hook, and Steven Woolsey of Hyde Park, six grandchildren; Melissa and her husband Tony Daukontas, Shannon Woolsey, Ryan Woolsey, Kaela Woolsey, Michael Pulver, and Steven Pulver, and a great grandson; Ethan Daukontas.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Rhinebeck on Monday, March 19th, 2012 from 4 to 7 pm with funeral services to be held at 7 pm. Inurnment will be private in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
