Dutchess lawmakers split sharply on sales tax extension but find harmony on other issues

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Legislature voted mostly along party lines for the biennial request for state permission to continue a three-quarters of a percent addition to the county sales tax. The extra sales tax was first requested in 2003, with the money “to be used for county purposes.”
