Hubert Guy McKenna, 97, of Florida and former area resident, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at the Venice Regional Medical Center in Venice, FL.
For many years and until his retirement, Mr. McKenna was a New York City Fireman, having attained the rank of Captain.
Mr. McKenna was a member of St. Christopher’s Church in Red Hook and the Red Hook Seniors.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Born on September 12, 1914, in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late William and Josephine (Ryan) McKenna.
Hubert married Elizabeth Record on May 6, 1939 in St. Francis Church in the Bronx and she predeceased him on November 14, 2007
He is survived by a his children and their spouses; Elizabeth Jane and Harold Ulich of St. Augustine, FL, John Dennis and Christel McKenna of Rocky Mount, VA, James Patrick and Margaret McKenna of Harriman, NY, and Michael H. and Carol McKenna of Placida, FL, eleven grandchildren; Mark, Michelle, Peggy Ann, James, Kelly, Elizabeth, Jeremy, Jeanette, Jon, Timothy, and Kenneth, and nine great grandchildren; Emma, Caroline, Sophie, Grace, Kaylyn, John, Colleen, James, and Ryder.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook on Sunday and Monday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM on Tuesday at St. Christopher’s Church, Red Hook. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.
