A. Gino Balacic, 74, a longtime Red Hook resident, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.
For many years and until his retirement, Gino was a well known Chef at Copperfields in Millbrook. He also worked for many years at both Whaleback Inn in Red Hook and Hedge’s in West Park.
Gino was also a member of the Cepic Club, an avid gardener and wine maker.
Born on July 23rd, 1937, in Cepic, Croatia, he married Nadalina Honovich on October 8, 1972 in Astoria, NY. Nadalina survives at home in Red Hook.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his son and daughter in law; Gino and Jennifer Balacic of Red Hook, his new born grandson; Bradyn Balacic and a brother; Nino Balacic of Red Hook. He is also survived by several cousins, extended family, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM on Friday at St. Christopher’s Church, Red Hook. Father Patrick Buckley and Father Xavier Santiago will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.
Memorial donations may be made in Alberto’s memory to the St. Christopher’s Church, 7411 S. Broadway, Red Hook, NY 12571.
