Glenn L. Traudt, 83, a longtime Red Hook resident and a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, November 3, 2011 at his home.
Born on September 15, 1928, in Rhinebeck, NY, he was the son of the late Louis and Etta Mae (Brundige) Traudt. Glenn married Geraldine Smith on May 16, 1954 at Third Lutheran Church in Rhinebeck and she predeceased him on July 11, 2007.
Mr. Traudt was very active in Red Hook Little League as a volunteer and also as a manager for over 15 years. He was a former teacher and superintendent of Sunday school at Memorial Lutheran Church in Rock City. One of his greatest passions was trains.
For many years and until his retirement he worked for the United States Postal service in Rhinebeck.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his sons; Glenn (Susan) Traudt of Livingston, William Doug Traudt of Red Hook, Paul (Laura)Traudt of Glens Falls, NY, Peter (Michelle) Traudt of Red Hook, and Mike (Marcy) Traudt of Red Hook, a brother; Howie Traudt of Rhinebeck, his grandchildren; Glenn, Laura, Kasey, Zachery, Peter, Ryan, Benjamin, Luke, Coral, Emerick, Stella, Reid, Jamie, and Lisa, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son; Scott Harold Traudt, a sister; Thelma Pink, and four brothers; Harold, Doug, Ronnie, and Raymond Traudt.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Sunday from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 PM on Sunday at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Red Hook. The Rev. Le Roy T. Ness will officiate.
