Red Hook-Hyde Park pair charged with Pleasant Valley bank robbery

A Hyde Park man and a Red Hook woman have been charged with third-degree robbery, a felony, in connection with a hold-up at the First Niagara Bank on Route 44 in Pleasant Valley on July 31.

28, of Hyde Park, and 21, of Red Hook, were arrested the same day in Poughkeepsie and were each charged with third-degree robbery, a felony. They were arraigned in Town of Pleasant Valley Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail, on $50,000 bail and on $10,000.

According to Detective Sergeant Jason Mark of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, the Sheriff’s Office was notified of an alarm for a bank robbery at 12:30pm, after a man presented a note to a teller who then handed over an amount of money. Mark said the exact amount was still under investigation. The male suspect then met a female suspect, believed to be helping him, outside the bank and the two made their getaway on foot. A few hours later, after the Sheriff’s office issued a “be on the lookout” notice, City of Poughkeepsie police apprehended the suspects and the Sheriff’s Office joined in making the arrest. A search of a room at the Days Inn the suspects had rented allegedly turned up proceeds from the robbery as well as other evidence, Mark said.
