Following a season-opening loss, the Franklin D. Roosevelt High School golf team earned its first victory Aug. 29, a 171-204 win over Walkill High School at Osiris Country Club in Walden.
The Presidents were led by Troy Farley and Michael Boryk, who both finished with 42s at the par-36 course. Those two scores were the best on the day for both teams.
Jeff Peters (43) and Shawn Cimorelli (44) also played well for FDR, which was next scheduled to host New Paltz.
In its first match of the season Aug. 27, the team suffered a 146-159 loss to Spackenkill High School at Dinsmore Golf Course in Staatsburg. The Presidents receive solid efforts from Shawn Cimorelli (38) and Jeff Peters (39), but were unable to snap Spackenkill’s regular-season match winning streak, which is now 37 straight following their victory.
