Livingston sisters arrested after purse robbery outside bank

Two sisters from Livingston were arrested Aug. 13 in connection with a robbery outside the First Niagara Bank in Greenport, according to a State Police report. Police responded to a 911 call to assist an elderly woman whose handbag was taken as she walked to the entrance of the bank. According to the report, an eyewitness gave police a description of a suspect and the suspect’s vehicle and a partial license plate number. Soon after, police located the vehicle during a distracted-driving road check and while interviewing the occupants, found the victim’s personal effects, and noted that a two-year-old child was in the vehicle, the report said.

22, and 21, were each charged with robbery in the third degree, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. Cassandra Lester was also charged with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, a misdemeanor. They were arraigned in Town of Greenport Justice Court and held in Columbia County Jail.
