The towns of Rhinebeck and Red Hook are actively working to create a dog park to benefit their canine residents, and owners, and need your support to make this a reality.
Residents of both towns have long requested a park, and both towns are now very close to completing the legal structure that will allow for the construction and operation of the facility. It will be built on a parcel of land generously donated by Rhinebeck next to the soccer fields at Stone Church and Yantz Road in Red Hook.
Dog parks are in use in many towns throughout the country and have proven very popular with canines and their owners. Many people do not have adequate space in their yards to allow their dog to run freely, and the opportunities to socialize their dogs with other canines are very limited.
A large fenced-in area, with owner supervision, allows dogs to safely run and play off-leash. The proper dog park has benches and/or tables for the owners to sit and watch their canines, with shade structures and water fountains. Dog park stewards oversee the building and maintenance of such parks.
Your local Dog Park Committee is now seeking your help for money to build the fence, shade structures, benches and signage.
If you own a dog, or know someone who does, please consider helping us fund this construction. Donations can be made out to “The Red Hook Dog Park Committee” and sent to the Red Hook Town Clerk, 109 S. Broadway, Red Hook, NY 12571. Businesses and persons who donate more than $500 will be highlighted on a “Donor Board” planned at the dog park. But any amount donated will be greatly appreciated. Help us make this a reality for the residents of Rhinebeck and Red Hook.
