When I moved to Tivoli in 2004, a pint at the Black Swan clinched the deal. That summer the Black Swan was a neighborhood pub, with great food, live music and a beautiful outdoor garden. Whenever friends came over to see my new place, I took them to the Black Swan for a beer. I don’t remember having noise problems back then. I think it’s a mistake to call the Black Swan a Bard College hangout, since most college students are underage. My hope is that Gerard Hurley will resurrect the neighborhood pub that was central to the town that I moved to a decade ago.
