Tivoli residents are being put on notice by the village mayor that the regulations on garbage pickup will be enforced.
In a news release, Mayor Bryan F. Cranna said, “The failure to remove bins after a collection has been made is becoming a chronic problem and it is impacting the appearance of the village.”
He added, “Tivoli is a walking village. To walk through our village and have to view bins spilling out with garbage next to a restaurant and or a residence is unacceptable. Anyone violating this village code will be held accountable.”
According to Village code, empty garbage containers have to removed from the curbside before the end of the collection day, and failure to do so is punishable by a fine of up to $250, or imprisonment for up to 15 days, or both.
Cranna said his office and the zoning enforcement officers “will review the village” on a regular basis and send notices for any violations of code.
