Rhinebeck schools get ExxonMobil grants

Two grants totaling $1,000 have been awarded to the Rhinebeck Central School District from the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program to support the district’s elementary and secondary mathematics and science programs.

Richard Matthies, of Rhinebeck Mobil at 6583 Springbrook Drive and 142 East Market Street, both in Rhinebeck, New York, worked with school officials to secure the grants, each for $500. The grants are funded by the Exxon Mobil Corporation and available to schools across the country that have Exxon or Mobil stations in their neighborhoods.

“The Rhinebeck Central School District works hard to make learning interesting and fun,” Matthies said in a school district news release. “As a Mobil retailer, I’m proud to help the young people of the Rhinebeck community.”

The ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program is designed to provide Exxon and Mobil retailers with an opportunity to invest in the future of their communities through educational program grants to local schools.
