Arthur F. Dykeman, 72, a longtime Elizaville resident, died on Sunday, November 25th, 2012 at St. Peters Hospital in Albany, NY.
Born on November 3, 1940, in Hudson, NY, he was the son of the late Harry and Brita (Hansen) Dykeman.
He served in the United States Army throughout the US, Germany and Korea from 1958 until 1967 and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the Army he was an instructor for the Hawk Missile System in Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.
After the Army, Arthur drove a truck for EFCO Products in Poughkeepsie, NY for thirty-nine years.
Arthur was a member of the Elizaville Methodist Church and was best known as head grill master at their chicken barbecues. He was an active member of the Germantown VFW Post 6398 for many years.
He is survived by his daughter, Deidra Dykeman of Solvang, CA; his son, Brian Dykeman and his wife Antonetta “Toni” Cincotta of Rhinebeck, NY and four grandchildren, Michael and Toni-Marie Digilio and Jack and Logan Dykeman, along with his sister Rita and her husband Earl Mc Cauley, a brother Larry and wife Cissy Dykeman, his sister Linda and her husband Henry Webster and his sister Vicki and her husband Gary Bucciantini as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra (Dykeman) Digilio and former wife Ruth (Fraleigh) Ackert.
Friends may be received from 10 am to 11:30 am on Saturday, December 8th, 2012 at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook, NY. Then the procession will proceed to the Elizaville Methodist Church, Elizaville, NY, where a memorial service will be held at 12 noon.
