Brian “Chris” Ely, 54, of West Sand Lake, NY, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at his home with his family by his side.
Chris was a self taught artist and took great pride and joy in his work. As a nature lover he enjoyed painting landscapes and going on hikes.
Chris greatest love was for his work and for the residents he served. His calling was as a therapy aide with NYS DDSO in East Greenbush, NY.
Born on October 27th, 1958, in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the Arlene (Shaw) Ely of Ghent and the late Joseph Ely. He was a graduate of Red Hook High School – Class of 1976.
In addition to his Mother, he is survived by a brother; Kevin Ely and his wife Donna of Claverack, NY, his three sisters; Kathleen Griffin and her husband Matthew of Claverack, NY, Pamela Ely of Hudson, NY, and Susan Oram and her husband George of Ghent, NY, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 30th, 2012 at St. Christopher’s Church, Red Hook, NY. Inurnment will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Thursday, November 29th, 2012 from 4 to 7 pm.
Memorial donations may be made in Brian’s memory to The Community Hospice Foundation, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.
