Farmers’ market gets extended run

The Village of Red Hook Farmer’s Market gained official approval from the Planning Board to extend its run through October. The measure was already approved by the Village Board of Trustees. The Market will continue on every Saturday until October 27. The extension comes at the request of the farmers and other vendors, who have been very happy with the turnout and business at the market.

New café set to debut

The Village of Red Hook is several steps closer to welcoming its newest cafe, after the Planning Board passed several required motions. The Enchanted Cafe is on course to open on South Broadway next to Tobacco Lane. It will seat about 20 patrons and feature table service. The Planning Board approved a site plan for the cafe and applications for a new sign. The sign will measure 1 by 6 feet, colored blue and silver, and be mounted flat against the building.

Key Bank gets signage approval

An application by Key Bank to replace the majority of its signage was approved by a unanimous vote of the Village of Red Hook Planning Board Sept. 13. The existing signs will be replaced by brand new, yet near identically designed ones. The goal of the project is simply to ”freshen up” the appearance of the building, according to a representative from the bank’s contractor. The sign application had to be modified after Zoning Enforcement Officer Sam Harkins cited the original draft for violations in size and lighting.

Bread & Bottle floor plan approved

A floor plan was accepted by the village planning board depicting the seating arrangement at Bread & Bottle, the new establishment that was scheduled to open Sept. 21 at the former site of Merritt Books. The bakery and wine bar submitted a diagram at the request of the Planning Board. Board members Mark Mirando and Paul Fredricks took issue with the provided materials, claiming that they lacked details and did not give a sufficient idea of the establishment’s intended layout. However, Chairperson Everett Pearsall noted that Bread & Bottle was under no legal obligation to provide this information at all and did so only as a courtesy.
