Elsa Kreider, 87, a Red Hook resident since 1988 and a former Staten Island resident, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the Baptist Nursing Home in Rhinebeck, NY.
Elsa was a communicant of St. Christopher’s Church and was active in the Friends of Elmendorf in Red Hook.
Born on June 28th, 1925, on Staten Island, NY, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Rose (Wein) Wessel.
Elsa married John R. Kreider on December 7, 1946 on Staten Island and he predeceased her on October 20, 1996.
She is survived by her loving family, a son; Paul Kreider of Del Ray Beach, FL, her five daughters; Ellen (John) Kraus of Chester Springs, PA, Jeanne (Alan) Weisman of Hillsdale, NJ, Erica Kreider-Mueller of Red Hook, NY, Valerie (Gregory) Rupert of Leesburg, VA, and Julie (Jonathan) Rowland of Hillsborough, NJ, fourteen grandchildren, and one great grandson. In addition she is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Thursday, September 20th, 2012 from 8:30 – 9:30 am. Then a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM at St. Christopher’s Church, Red Hook, NY. Father Patrick Buckley will officiate. Interment will be private at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx.
