Gordon L. Tetro, 84, a lifelong Red Hook area resident, passed away on Sunday, September 16th, 2012 at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY.
For many years, Gordon drove truck for George Hildebrandt Trucking based in Claverack, NY. Following his retirement, he drove school bus for A & E Transportation.
He was a longtime member of the Germantown American Legion and was a well know local musician. He played guitar, piano, and harmonica in the family band at many venues throughout the area.
Gordon served in the United States Army during World War II.
Born on July 1, 1928, in Red Hook, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Jennie (Daley) Tetro. Gordon married Gladys Van Wagner on August 21, 1949 at Christ Church in Red Hook and she survives at home.
In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, he is survived by five daughters; Kathleen & John Hogan of Hudson Falls, NY, Linda & Donald Hogan of Elizaville, NY, Bonnie & Joseph DeWald of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Pamela & James Stagias of Elizaville, NY, and Teresa Tetro of Germantown, NY, three sons; Gordon Tetro, Jr. of Hudson Falls, NY, Michael & Debra Tetro of Germantown, NY, and Scott & Heidi Tetro of New Paltz, NY, a sister; Ernestine Orlich of New Paltz, NY along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Gordon was predeceased by his daughter; Sharon Lee McCloskey, four sisters; Loretta Martin, Dorothy Moore, Anna Wheeler, and Joan Stickle, and two brothers; Foster and Fred Tetro.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 20th, 2012 at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Red Hook, NY. The Reverend Fred C. Cartier will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.
