Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year! We are looking forward to having your child be a part of our teaching and learning community this year. We are also looking forward to working with you to maximize your child’s academic, social, and emotional growth.

I wanted to briefly tell you that we have accomplished much this summer. Most importantly, we have hired six new faculty members to replace our valued colleagues who retired at the end of June. Additionally, we are welcoming a new assistant principal at Linden Avenue Middle School. Mrs. Berardi will be replacing Mrs. Greene who has transferred to the high school. I am confident that all the new hires will quickly become a valued part of our school community.

On the facilities front, we have been moving at full throttle. We have expanded and completely renovated our science teaching spaces at the high school. We have refinished (and relined) floors and installed curtain walls in three of our gymnasiums. We have installed a new playground at Mill Road Primary. We replaced a roof on our maintenance building and repaired slate roofs where needed. We have completed miscellaneous projects that include a wheelchair accessible ramp, new parking lot drains, and office reconfigurations.

Please be aware that we will have some construction occurring into September. Specifically, we will be installing some finishes in our high school science spaces and we will be completing construction of a new security entrance at Linden Avenue Middle School.

I am excited for the students and parents to meet our new staff and to see our facility improvements. I am equally excited about serving as your Superintendent of Schools during the 2012-2013 school year.

Paul Finch
Red Hook Superintendent of Schools
