William Henry “Gitch” Gitschier, 53, of Tivoli, NY, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.
Born on June 21, 1959, in Rhinebeck, NY, he was the son of the late Lena (DuBois) Gitschier and Parker Gitschier of Indian Town, FL.
William married Stephanie A. Remenek on September 6, 2008 in Clermont, NY and she survives at their home in Tivoli.
William was a fan of NASCAR; his two favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt Sr. & Dale Earnhardt Jr. He was also a fan of the Miami Dolphins and the New York Mets. He also served in the United States Army.
In addition to his loving wife Stephanie and his father, he is survived by his brother; Parker Gitschier II of Indian Town, FL, his sisters; Edna Bloomer of West Palm Beach, FL, and Peggy Rousch of Rhinebeck, NY, and three great aunts. He is also survived by three nephews, two nieces, three great nephews and three great nieces who lovingly called him “Unc”.
Memorial donations can be made in memory of William to the charity of ones choice.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Monday July 16, 2012 from 4 pm to 6 pm. Interment will be private.
