Village prepares for summer sidewalk project

The Red Hook Village Board is reviewing bids for a sidewalk construction project to take place over the summer.

Five construction firms have submitted estimates, with a difference between the lowest and highest bids of about $70,000. The large dollar gap between the bids is considered very unusual; meaning the content of each bid will need additional vetting to ensure all expected work is covered.

The planned work includes two new crosswalks on South Broadway and a new sidewalk on West Market Street from Phillips Street to Benner Road.
