Muriel Grace O’Neill, 89, of Red Hook, NY, passed away in peace surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday May 16, 2012 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY.
Muriel moved to Red Hook in 1984 from Lawrenceville, NJ, where she was a member of St. Ann’s Church, and of the Altar Rosary Society there. In Red Hook, she was a member of St. Christopher’s Church.
She was born May 21, 1922, in Brooklyn, NY, and graduated from Jamaica High School with the Class of 1940. Muriel married Edward P. O’Neill on January 1, 1944 in Brooklyn. He died on Sept. 19, 1999
Her parents, Patrick W. and Catherine (Schlow) Lennon, a son, Thomas S. O’Neill, a sister-in-law, Madeline Boyles, and a brother, Thomas Boyles, all predeceased her.
Muriel is survived by her loving family. Her four children: Rosemary O’Neill Shaffer and her husband Samuel Shaffer, Jr. of LaGrange, NY, Patricia M. Butler of Red Hook, Edward T. O’Neill of Houston, TX, William P. O’Neill and his wife Frances of Cold Spring, NY, her son-in-law, J. Scott Butler of Red Hook, 16 devoted grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 18th, at St. Christopher’s Church, S. Broadway, Red Hook. Father Patrick Buckley will officiate. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Red Hook.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Home, 7461 S. Broadway, Red Hook, on Thursday, May 17th, from 4-8pm.
