Light turnout for Briggs Mountain race

On a morning that would qualify as one of the “Most Beautiful Mornings in the Entire History of the Area,” the 15th annual Race Around Briggs Mountain – an eight-mile race up, down and around scenic Milan – didn’t draw a big crowd. According to Race Director Dan Miller, “We had a light turnout this year compared to years past, around 30 people.”

The lack of runners didn’t dampen the race’s vibe, though. “Everyone seemed to have a great time. The weather was perfect for a long run. As with years past, the post-race talk was all about how much everyone enjoyed the scenery and challenge of the course,” Miller added. “Many left with a promise to return again next year.”

The men’s first-place finisher was Michael Gruber, finishing in 52 minutes, 10 seconds. The women’s first-place finisher was Viki Huber, finishing in 1 hour, 6 minutes, 48 seconds. The race will return next April.
