Levi J. Gordon, 87, of Red Hook, NY, passed away on Monday, May 7th 2012 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY.
Born on October 11, 1924, in Newburgh, NY, he was the son of the late Levi and Mary (VanBuren) Gordon Sr. Prior to his retirement he worked for many years at Kem Cards in Poughkeepsie NY manufacturing playing cards.
Levi joined the US Army in April 1943 and became an anti tank gun crewman. He served overseas during World War II in the African, Middle Eastern and European Theaters and earned five Bronze Stars.
An avid reader, Levi was also a history buff. He was a great fan of the NY Jets and NY Yankees.
He is survived by many close friends, especially the Simmons, Lown, Fluegel, Bottego and Frisenda families.
In addition to his parents, Levi was predeceased by his sister Katherine Gordon.
Funeral services with Military Honors will be held at 11:30am on Monday, May 14th, at the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Route 52, Walden, NY. There will be no calling hours.
